Recipe from The Novice Chef:
Sore throats are a pain in the neck.
Guess what? It’s National Vodka Day, and since we’re all dodging COVID this fall, I thought, “Why not celebrate with a Quarantini?”
Picture this: it’s just you, your vodka, lemon juice, and a touch of honey syrup, all chilling out together in a cocktail glass. And to top it off, we’ve got a glass rimmed with powdered Vitamin C for that extra “health-conscious” touch. You know, gotta keep those immune systems in check while we’re sipping on spirits!
Quarantini
- 3 oz vodka
- 2 oz lemon juice
- 2 oz honey syrup (1:1)
- SHAKE with ice
- STRAIN into a chilled martini glass rimmed with powdered vitamin C
Alcohol: 17% Sugars: 37 g
Now, let’s take a quick trip down the memory lane of vodka. Did you know this clear, potent elixir has been around for centuries? Vodka’s origins are as mysterious as the bottle you hid in your sock drawer back in college. It’s believed to have been distilled in Eastern Europe and Russia, and its name even comes from the Slavic word “voda,” which means water. So, basically, it’s like drinking fancy water, right?
So, here’s to National Vodka Day, Quarantinis, and the wild history of this clear liquid that’s been keeping us warm and toasty for generations. Cheers, my fellow quarantine mixologists!
