The Ernesto

Recipe from Smuggler’s Cove 🛟:

I heard a rumor that tequila can be drunk neat. But I took it with a pinch of salt.

Tonight’s delight hails from the legendary Smuggler’s Cove, and it goes by the name of “The Ernesto.” This extraordinary concoction is a splendid tequila-based libation, infused with the zesty notes of grapefruit and lime, and sweetened with apricot liqueur and honey. It’s the kind of cocktail that’ll make your taste buds do a happy dance!

Cocktail

The Ernesto

  • 2 oz grapefruit soda (pref Fever-Tree)
  • 2 oz tequila blanco
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 1 oz honey syrup (1:1)
  • 1/2 oz apricot liqueur
  • 1 dash angostura bitters
  • Add grapefruit soda to a double rocks glass
  • Shake remaining ingredients with ice
  • Strain into rocks glass with soda
  • Top up with crushed ice
  • Garnish with a lime wheel and a flower

Alcohol: 10% Sugars: 28 g

Now, for all you botanists who might be peering at this with a raised eyebrow, worrying that the flowery garnish might be a danger – fret not! That innocent-looking petal is actually nothing more sinister than an edible cupcake adornment. So, no toxicology reports needed here!
