I have mixed drinks about feelings.

Happy National Crème de Menthe Day, my fellow cocktail enthusiasts! Today is all about raising our glasses to that minty elixir that adds a cool twist to so many classic drinks. But let’s zoom in on one in particular: the Stinger.

Now, the Stinger has quite the history. It was whipped up back in the early 20th century, a time when cocktails were all the rage. Thisz classy creation won hearts for its simplicity and delightful taste. It’s basically a two-ingredient wonder, bringing together cognac and crème de menthe in perfect harmony.

To celebrate this special day dedicated to the world of crème de menthe, I decided to whip up my very own Stinger. The beauty of this drink is in its simplicity – it’s perfect for those moments when you want something scrumptious but don’t want to play bartender for hours.


Here’s how I crafted my Stinger:

  • 2 oz of top-notch cognac
  • 1 oz of white crème de menthe (or green, your call)
  • Fill a mixing glass with ice cubes.
  • Pour in 2 ounces of your favorite cognac. Quality matters, so choose wisely!
  • Follow that up with 1 ounce of crème de menthe. Green or white, it’s your call based on your flavor and color preferences.
  • Give it a gentle stir. No need to go overboard; just enough to blend those flavors like old pals
  • Strain your mix into a chilled cocktail glass
  • Garnish with lemon twist
