Cuban Daze

Recipe from El Guapo:

A tennis ball is sitting at a bar. The bartender says, “Have you been served?”

When I embarked on my mixology adventure two years back, bitters were a complete mystery to me. I used them as directed in recipes, but their impact seemed negligible. This changed when I stumbled upon rave reviews of El Guapo bitters this summer. Intrigued by their Cuban Daze recipe on their website, I improvised with orange bitters as a substitute. The result? A decent drink, albeit a tad too sweet. I ordered El Guapo’s Cuban Bitters 🛟. They transformed the Cuban Daze into an absolute delight—what a game-changer!

Cuban Daze

  • 1.5 oz light rum
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 1/2 oz blue curaçao
  • 1/2 oz orange juice
  • 1/2 oz falernum
  • 4 dashes El Guapo Cuban Bitters 🛟
  • Shake all ingredients with ice
  • Strain into a rocks glass with ice
  • Garnish with a dehydrated blood orange wheel

Alcohol: 19% Sugars: 15 g

Also, I’m thrilled with my new straw (Kier, the baby octopus) from Surfside Sips 🛟! Get your hands on some really cool glass straws with a 20% discount using the code SHAKENUP. While the website currently might be out of octopus straws due to the holiday rush, Andrew, the Straw Guy, is fantastic and can customize your order – he always has great ideas!
